Process

Casting mold filled with crushed clear and blue glass before firing

Before

Fired glass gems in gold and teal, after the kiln

After

I kiln-form Bullseye glass and gravitate toward the reactive glasses, frequently combining them with silver. The transformation of the materials in the kiln leaves me often amazed and delighted by the dynamic, shifting and frequently unpredictable results.

My work draws on many of my artistic and scientific passions, from using my amateur background in geology to echo - in glass - the rocks and minerals I love, to using my technology skills to turn my nature photography into stencils used to print enamel silhouettes on my glass.
